This past weekend my husband's cycling team competed in the Double Century. I was part of the backup team and it was required of us to stay over in Montague as the race was in Swellendam.
With this obviously came the issue of do I withdraw from the support team and stay at home with my son, who is 1 year and 8 months old, or do I leave him with his nanny.
After much debate and anxiety we decided that I had fulfill my promise and go with the team.
My anxiety levels were very high on the day of departure as I was worried that Zach would wake up in the middle of the night and look for me and wake the whole neighborhood screaming for his mommy. After we said our goodbyes and I shed a whole bucket of tears we parted ways. The first night away from him was terrible as I hardly slept still worrying that he would be traumatized when I wasn't there. At the race the next morning I was like a zombie but when I called to check if all was well his nanny said that he slept right through the night and didn't even look for me.
WHAT he didn't look for me....he didn't even ask where we were? NO ...how dare he...lol
He was absolutely fine and all that worrying on my side was for nothing.... My little boy is no longer so little. I think that him growing up is more traumatizing for me and that his independence had come a little to soon as far as I am concerned. He is a real mommy's boy, I used to complain that he was too clingy and too dependent on me, now I'm wondering: " how long will it still last".

Bootcamp
I started an exercise regime in September on this year. It started off slowly but I could feel the effect soon after because the sluggishness I used to feel improved slightly. At work our Sport Science department started something called Boot camp. It has been running for 6 weeks now every Monday, Wednesday and Friday but unfortunately this week is the last.
Initially when signing up I was very anxious as I was fearful that I would be the only fat person there etc. The first day was great as the people who joined were all shapes, sizes and fitness levels and the turnout was great. Things went well at the offset as the previous weeks sessions helped out. The training varies and he makes sure we dont become complacent by changing the routine with each training session. As the weeks went on the routine became more tough, yet the staff kept up as the fitness levels got better. On the off days between boot camp I started swimming at the wonderful pool we have here at UWC....Olympic size. That has also done wonders.
The scale hasn't shown any difference but the centimeters have been coming off. I feel like a new person. Last week Sunday on the 9th of November I did 15km in the Big Walk and only took 2:30 hours....a personal best.
The affects thereof was felt later but it was really worth it.

Last week after a swimming session I had not lift home, one of my colleagues dropped me at Parow Centre, instead of taking a taxi home I decided to walk....it went quick and I enjoyed it.
Nowthat is one thing I want to persue, I want to walk home from work at least once a week now that boot camp is over.
The swimming I also want to concentrate on because it is great overall body work out.
The weight issue is disappointing but I know why... I haven't been following a eating regime so that explains it.
One would think that exersice would do more than a diet.
Bootcamp is over...but there is so much more to come...the more you do the more you want to do more...lol
